When
did you start an interest in rodeo? 11 years old
What other sports other than rodeo do you enjoy?
I play Volleyball, Fastball, skiing, snowboarding, and I really like badminton although I haven’t played it in years.
What
is the funniest thing that you have seen or experienced at a rodeo? When Relic was riding a bronc, and he was super
stiff and it looked like he was a stick on a horse.
What advice would you give to Indian youth about rodeo or anything
in general? Always think positive, and never think that you can’t do it.
I thought that I would never start barrel racing again, and here I am enjoying and feeling good about myself just for
going back to what I love to do. Stay in school because that is the ticket
you need to succeed in life. Take me for example; I took a few years off from
rodeo to pursue my career in education by going to University and getting my education degree.
But, now I am back into the swing of things, and now I will have the sufficient funds to support what I enjoy doing
– RODEO.
What
advice would you give to Indian youth who wanted to participate in
rodeo but didn’t have the resources or support
to get involved? Go to rodeos and make friends, meet people. There are a lot of our Native People that would like to see young native children succeed in rodeo. Especially now when our youth are involved in gangs and going to jail.
Are
there any songs that inspire or pump you up before you ride or rope? Any
AC/DC songs, and also Pat Green, Wave on Wave.
What would you like to see more of at Indian Rodeos? Just to see more youth involved.
What are/is your favorite western movie(s)?
Pure Country and Hildalgo.
What is your favorite music? Country
What was your most memorable
ride or run? When I place first place on my good old horse Blitz. I never thought he had it in him. It
was awesome.
Who is your all time hero? My Dad - Louis Taypotat.
What
Indian Cowboy or Cowgirl has influenced you to rodeo? My sister Chooch
and Sonya. My brother Darrell is getting purty good at that. I just don’t like getting shi% when I am doing something wrong in my run.
Would you like
to thank sponsors and or anyone for your success in rodeo? I would like
to thank my dad, sisters, and brothers for all their support when I am out there.
